Academy Lecture: 1950s TV
February 15 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Thursday, Feb. 15 • 1-2 p.m.
WESTMINSTER TOWERS & SHORES
This lecture will provide an overview of television programming during the 1950s. Television was in its infancy in 1950 with less than 20 percent of the country owning a set. But over the decade, that number would reach over 80 percent and its influence would be felt in all aspects of American life. The lecture will look at prime time, daytime, late night, and news programming. The formats of much of the 1950s programming provided a template that is still used today. The lecture will be a mix of lecture and video clips.
Lectures sponsored by Westminster Towers & Shores are free and open to the public. Pre-registration is suggested for the general public. Please call, 941-309-5111; or go online to www.rclla.org
